Over the past six months Bixby Rotarian Jim Weems and his wife Barb have been working with Rotary author David C. Forward on a full color book, A String of Pearls: Inspiring Stories of how Rotary Peace Fellows are Serving Humanity and Changing the World.

The Rotary Peace Fellows is a MAJOR project of Rotary International. Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 professionals from around the world to receive fellowships to study at one of our six peace centers. This book tells the story of just a few of the many individuals who are making a difference in the world. To learn about the Rotary Peace Fellows goto www.RotaryStringOfPearls.com.

The book is being introduced this week at the Rotary International Convention by RI President John Germ. Some think, this book could be a key tool to help Rotary rebuild it’s core membership. Why? A String of Pearls tells what Rotary is doing NOW, TODAY, AT THIS VERY MOMENT to make the world a better place for all of humanity.

Please invite a prospective member to this meeting. Spread the word that The Rotary Club of Bixby has excellent programs and delicious lunches.

The information on this page is intended to help you as you plan for speaking at our Rotary Club. You can contact the Rotarian who arranged for your visit if you have any general questions.

The three things that we need from you are:

1. Send a paragraph or two about yourself and a few lines about the subject of your presentation as soon as your date has been booked to: Jim Weems at bixbyrotary@cox.net so that we may promote your speaking engagement on our website.

Please look at our home page to see the type of story we use. Resumes are not helpful. A paragraph or two on you and your topic are what we prefer.

ADVANCED AV NEEDS REQUIRED

2. Prior to speaking engagement, your AV requests to: Jim Weems at bixbyrotary@cox.net. We must have prior notice to have a video projector set up.

Please note: If you are using PowerPoint, it should contain mostly photos. Participants in the back cannot see words on PowerPoint slides smaller than 44-point.

You should also bring your own laptop, tablet or smartphone. You may need a cable or adaptor that will plug into a standard VGA or HDMI input on our projector. It's possible that you can bring only a flash drive but YOU MUST CHECK FIRST to trade tech info.
